First “Keminggris” Post in My Brand Nu Home..*sok*
I just watched Oprah Winfrey show, it showed several people who are really inspiring, they do what others people don’t wanna do, and it seems hardly to do so. One of the men on the show that really make me say…” he just awesome”. He is John Wood, slaves his life to help illiterate, poor, and untouched children lived in remote, and poor country by giving them books. He decided to quit from his decent job in Microsoft, he was a senior executive of Microsoft, he worth millions of dollar. Luxurious life, private driver, luxury house, just his another past. One moment that make him understand, he just only make the Rich getting richer meanwhile 800 million people out there who’s really starving of education, untouched by such a sophisticated technology. He did a journey to Nepal just for escaping from the rough of business life; he flew from his wealthy life in to a strange place with no transportation, no communication devices, or even a crystal picture of poor life. What John did, was a simply escaping from his comfort zone.
My lecture in prior class ever told us that the only way for getting success and do a massive transformation is escaping from your comfort zone. Just get changed, It’s a kind of short motivation from lecture for his students in order getting a better life after they graduate. Maybe John has done the first escaping before he did success in Microsoft, become one of the top level of Microsoft Company. And he did it, he did make it, million dollar assets, private stock is just an ordinary thing for him. Now he’s doing his second escape, a sweet escape I think. Resigning from Bill Gates, surrender his life for education in poor country. Because he and we believe that education is the key of everything, it’s like a pass card for changing the life. Education can heal the poverty, we still have hundred million of children who’s couldn’t access the better education, especially in facilities. Maybe I won’t go too far, in some places in our country this condition still happen. Broken school’s building, lack of books, lack of teachers, or even other facilities. John is just a Senior Executive, he’s not the owner of Microsoft, maybe for some people who really wonder and wish for gaining big salary and wealthy life, and they might think that what John had done is like committing suicide. John spreads hundreds of book in Nepal by using donkey; he’s together with local writer make a translation book with their mother language. One thing that inspired me is, he said that if we’re settled enough in one company, everything we do is just letting the rich become richer, while there’re a lot of people out there are suffering. That’s the point, what actually we’re searching for until make us really selfish, you may not waiting until become a senior executive in multinational company. It can start from now, from your neighborhood, from your society.
